On a beach on Vancouver Island, Canada.

This girl moved me.

To me innocence doesn't always have to be shown in a face of a child. To me it can be shown as a cherished stuffed animal that is thought to be everything to a 5 year old. Something that a child can so strongly believe can make them safe. Protect them from monsters lurking in the night. Comfort them when they feel sad. Play with them when they need a friend.

That to me shows true innocence.

Meet Puppy who is all of that to my daughter and more...

“There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we believe we left without having lived them, those we spent with a favorite book.”
―Marcel Proust

I wanted to capture this stage for my daughter...the age when she learned to read. And she reads EVERYTHING. It all amazes her. Its like this whole new world opened up for her, one she just CANNOT get enough of. Cereal boxes, signs, commercials, washing instructions on clothing labels. I mean she reads EVERYTHING. Oh to be so excited about this new glorious world...INNOCENCE.

Who remembers reading "Where the sidewalk ends" as a child? I do.

Here is a photo of my sweet four year old twins. I asked them to step under a large white archway and hold hands. They came up with these sweet expressions on their own. I think their expressions reflect the innocent love that they have for each other.

This is my Camille (aka 'Mini Millie') last spring...we had taken a drive to Prescott to do some shopping but I couldn't resist stopping at this field of flowers on the way home. Millie was completely uninterested in my camera, but was *very* interested in picking flowers. I just let her do her thing and snapped away! To me, this depicts the pure innocence of a little girl.

ISO 400, F-2.8, 1/640, shot with the 70-200L II at 200mm. It's one of my favorites of her.

This is my oldest son. In this picture, I see so much energy and life in him. He didn't care how silly he looked or what he was holding. To him having this alien toy is pure joy. Just shows his purity and lack of guilt of playing and being himself.

I haven't been on ILP for a long time, but thought this was the perfect time to contribute! These are my goofy girls back in the fall after picture day at school. I wanted a few pictures for myself and this is what they gave me! I imagine it will always be one of my favorites!

I chose this photo, even though almost everything about this photo is technically wrong. This photo epitomizes the innocence in a child. This is my son on vacation, just being himself. The sun was out and it was hot, but he did what children do best and found happiness just rolling in the grass, unencumbered by the discomforts of the adults.

My 8 month old is so soon learning to walk. I love how he's intent on it and so innocent, relying on my hands to protect him.

I love this shot of a 15 month old with her new baby brother. She was so anxious to hold him and let him sniff her flower. I love that she is smushing it in his face and his expression is just priceless.

Love all these gorgeous photos!

This is one of my favourites of my daughter, and shows the innocent, pure love only a child can have for a new toy. I had taken her to do some photos in her halloween outfit, however she refused to put it on, only wanting shots of her with her newly acquired BFF, Emily Button.

This is my sweet, sweet third child. Every day this one comes up, grabs my face and says, "You are so gorgeous. I love you more than the whole entire earth." What he doesn't yet know is that I love him even more.
